For a few years now this association has been very active. Mainly organizing or with support the following remembrance ceremonies or social events:-

  1. Since 2004 for the 28 fallen Gurkhas with the support of the C.O of Royal Ranger Regiment Camp.

  2. Since 2005 a the Khalsa Diwan Malaysia, Ipoh for  few hundred WW 2 casualties in 1942 at Kampar with the support of its President.

  3. In 2008 and 2009 at the Cenotaph Ipoh for the WW 1 fallen (92 British residents from Perak who volunteered to serve their motherland), Emergency & Confrontation, supported mainly by the State government.

  4. Co-ordinated the ‘Troops Night’ with the sponsors at the Royal Perak Golf Club

  5. Co-ordinated with the State government which hosted a dinner at the residence of the Chief Minister for overseas veterans & family members.

  6. Organized Goodwill Dinner annually in June at Royal Ipoh Club during the Remembrance Ceremony Week.

Each remembrance has its own special significance. But, what stood out most is the Cenotaph comprehensive remembrance where five priests from different faiths prayed for the fallen from so many armies and so many different nations. The participants were as appropriately varied as those we had come to honour. Mayor of Ipoh City  as the main guest & government officials, VIPs from the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Royal Malaysia Police, Non-Government Organisations, Veterans from UK, Australia, Royal British Legion South Thailand, the Green Jackets, 2nd/30th Training Group Australian Army & 324  CSS (RAAF) Butterworth, Voluntary services, members of Veterans Association Penang. High Commissioners and senior Embassy officials from Commonwealth countries in K.L.

Annually, two Gurkha pipers/buglers are sponsored by the British High Commission from the Royal Gurkha Regiment Brunei, Royal Malaysian Air Force Training band, school children and band, plain ordinary folks amongst whom I must particularly mention a group of  Orang Aslis in their colourful and traditional attire from Bidor- that hotbed of terrorism. Refreshments were sponsored by the State Tourism Action Council in 2008 and this year by the State of Perak with a very entertaining cultural show. Zone 10 LLC, USA Photographers covered the above events.

It is hoped this Cenotaph will serve as a stimulating starting point of our recall of the valuable legacy and history of our land and of those who laid down their lives for it.
